I had admired Chris Gavin's custom metalwork for some years and so when I saw his website I felt he really deserved better. The design, though unique, was a distraction from his own work, and the gallery was a tedious bit of navigation. Worse still, the site could not be found in any search. Ouch.
My redesign of Chris' website needed to be a clean presentation with no clutter, no distracting imagery. Quite honestly, that was the easy part. I created a simple framework upon which to hang his art. And so his work becomes the foundation of the design. And in a gallery that is how it should be. So the focus of my time really became the organization of the portfolio and its optimization for the search engines. That means CSS all the way! Chris got a great site and I kept my sanity.
Now, months later, Mandala Creations in Metal is an easily navigable portfolio which the search engines can appreciate. And of course Chris' work speaks for itself.
